Jason Diefenthaler is a Managing Director and Head of Active Taxable and Municipal Strategies for Schwab Asset Management. In this role, he is responsible for developing, managing, and implementing Schwab Asset Management’s active taxable and tax-exempt fixed income investment strategies, including separately managed accounts, actively managed mutual funds, and exchange-traded funds (ETFs). Mr. Diefenthaler also leads the portfolio management team for the Wasmer Schroeder^® Strategies and is responsible for day-to-day co-management of active fixed income Schwab Funds^® and Schwab ETFs^TM. 

Previously, Mr. Diefenthaler was the director of tax-exempt portfolio management at Wasmer Schroeder & Company, LLC (Schwab Asset Management became the investment adviser for Wasmer Schroeder Strategies in 2020). He oversaw all tax-exempt strategies and management of the Wasmer Schroeder High Yield Municipal Fund, which subsequently reorganized into the Schwab Opportunistic Municipal Bond Fund. Mr. Diefenthaler began his career with Wasmer Schroeder in 2000 as a credit analyst before becoming a portfolio manager.

Mr. Diefenthaler earned a Bachelor of Science in finance from Florida State University. He is a member of the Southern Municipal Finance Society and the National Federation of Municipal Analysts.
