We prioritize investor needs. This mindset pervades our approach to model portfolios.

We keep it simple. Our models focus on efficient, essential portfolios and the most frequent investor priorities.

We know the building blocks and how to use them. With our vast experience in ETFs and multi-asset investing, we are well-suited to deliver model solutions.

We aim to deliver positive experiences to investors and the financial professionals who serve them.

Our approach to building model portfolios

Flowchart of our process

Select model portfolios for your clients

1. Choose an approach: Total return or income

Schwab Model Portfolios offer two pathways to help meet your clients’ goals: Total return or income. Once you select one, you can adapt it to align with your clients’ specific risk appetites.

Income approach vs total return approach

2. Identify which model portfolios suit your clients

Total return models

Total return portfolios seek to maximize return for a given level of risk, based on different investor profiles. Each allocation is designed primarily to optimize risk/return trade-offs with low-cost implementation.

Income models

Income portfolios seek to balance income needs and price growth while considering the potential income stability and price risk of the portfolio.
