Robert Helmstetler is a Portfolio Manager for Schwab Asset Management and leads the Wealth Portfolio Management Team responsible for Schwab Managed Portfolios^™ – Mutual Funds and USAA Managed Portfolios – UMP. Mr. Helmstetler primarily focuses on portfolio construction and investment analysis and research.

Prior to joining Schwab Asset Management, Mr. Helmstetler was a portfolio manager with Charles Schwab Investment Advisory, Inc., for the Schwab Managed Portfolios – Mutual Funds, focusing on asset manager research and analysis with a particular emphasis on global equity and real asset investments. Before this role, he held senior roles across a diverse set of industry disciplines including multi-asset class portfolio management, investment research and analysis, and risk management and audit. Previously, Mr. Helmstetler was a portfolio manager and senior research analyst at Wells Fargo Advisors where he served as lead manager on numerous multi-asset portfolios, helped develop new portfolio solutions, and provided thought leadership and guidance through marketing and communications efforts.

Mr. Helmstetler earned a Master of Science in applied financial economics from St. Louis University and a Bachelor of Science in business administration from Coastal Carolina University. He is a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA).
