David Kastner has been with Charles Schwab & Co. since 1997, serving as the head of the Schwab Center for Financial Research – Market Analysis Group, as well as the Senior Portfolio Manager and chair of the Investment Committee for Schwab Managed Portfolios™ – ETFs.  In these roles, he has been responsible for market and economic research, tactical asset allocation, ETF selection and investment risk management.  Before joining Schwab, Kastner was in banking and futures trading after earning a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Kansas. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) charter holder.
